Dwejra is a popular tourist destination and part of most Gozo day trips and tours
It's main attractions are Fungus Rock, Inland Sea and prior to it's collapse, the Azure Window.
The Azure Window was a natural arch made up of two verticle rocks pointing up above the sea surface with a large ledge over the top creating a window shape, hence the name. Sadly in March 2017 the window collapsed and all we have are memories and images of this once loved natural formation.
In Dwejra Bay you will find Fungus Rock, suprisingly overlooked by many but has significant importance. This large rock with its mossy top is the only known place where the 'Malta Fungus' grows. It was permenatntly guarded by the Knights of St John to stop locals collecting the fungus as it was thought to have potent medicinal properties.
The Inland Sea is a calm sheltered area and boat trips are available to take you through the cove. The water and rocky walls glimour creating a multi coloured show from the minerals and deposits that have settled.
